SpellingIQ

Spelling lists

Up to ten words you want to learn. Hear each one, spell it, and it comes back until you have it right a few times running, first try. Easier words are added to teach whatever tripped you.

How spelling lists work

A SpellingIQ list is up to 10 words you choose, such as this week's spelling words. Each word is read aloud and you type it from memory, and it keeps coming back until you spell it right on the first try two or three times running. Making a list needs a free account; playing one from a shared link does not.

Questions about lists

How many words can a list hold?
Up to 10. Paste them one per line or separated by commas. Anything that can't go on the list is shown with the reason, never dropped silently, and a word SpellingIQ doesn't have yet is looked up and added when you save.
When is a word learned?
When you spell it right on the first try two times running, or three times running once you have missed it. A miss starts the run again, and a retry helps you along without counting. The list is finished when every word is learned.
What are the extra words in a session?
When a word trips you, the list brings in up to three easier words that practise the part you got wrong, such as a doubled letter or a suffix, and serves them just before it. Each one drops out once it has done its job.
Can I share or print a list?
Yes. Every list has its own link and QR code, and can be sent by WhatsApp, email or Facebook. Anyone with the link can practise it against their own progress, and signed in can copy it to edit, but only you can change the original. Print gives a look, cover, write, check worksheet with the QR code on it, or a PDF from your browser's print dialog.
Do I need an account?
To make a list, yes. It is free, and you can make two a day. You can type your words and see them checked first, and they are kept while you sign in. Practising a list someone shared with you needs no account, and a list never changes your SpellingIQ rating.
