Install the SpellingIQ app

There is no app-store download. SpellingIQ installs from your browser and opens like an app, with the same rating, streak and missed words as the website.

iPhone and iPad (Safari)

  1. Tap the Share button (bottom of Safari)
  2. Scroll and tap Add to Home Screen
  3. Tap Add in the top‑right

Works in Safari only. Chrome and Firefox on iOS can't install web apps.

Android (Chrome)

  1. Open the browser menu (⋮)
  2. Tap Install app or Add to Home screen

Mac (Safari, macOS Sonoma or later)

  1. In Safari's menu bar choose File → Add to Dock…
  2. Confirm the name and click Add

Requires macOS Sonoma or later.

Windows or Mac (Chrome or Edge)

  1. Look for the install icon (⊕ in the address bar) and click it
  2. Or open the browser menu and choose Install SpellingIQ…

Firefox

Firefox doesn't install web apps directly. Bookmark SpellingIQ, or open it in Safari (iOS/macOS) or Chrome/Edge to install.

What installing gets you

  • It opens straight to your dashboard if you are signed in, or to today's Daily Five if you are not.
  • It runs full screen, without the browser's address bar and tabs.
  • It has its own icon on your home screen, dock or desktop.

Questions

Is there a SpellingIQ app in the App Store or Google Play?

No. SpellingIQ is a web app: you install it from your browser and it opens from your home screen or desktop like any other app. There is nothing to download from a store.

Is the installed app free?

Yes. It is the same SpellingIQ as the website, with the same free Daily Five, practice and placement test. Installing it costs nothing and needs no account.

Does it work offline?

Not for spelling. The installed app opens without a connection and shows an offline page, but every answer is graded on our server, so playing needs to be online.

How do I uninstall it?

The way you remove any app. On iPhone, iPad or Android, press and hold the icon and choose to remove or uninstall it. On a computer, use Uninstall in the installed app's own menu, or on a Mac delete it from your Applications folder. If you are signed in, your rating, streak and missed words stay with your account.
