How to spell concede

concede

Concede is spelled C-O-N-C-E-D-E.

Not conceed.

The word concede ends -cede, and the misspelling conceed gives it the -ceed of proceed. Concede takes the ending most of the family takes; only three common words end -ceed.

This is one of the few endings English settles outright. Only exceed, proceed and succeed take -ceed, and only supersede takes -sede; everything else is -cede.

What does concede mean?

verb. To admit that something is true or valid after denying it, or to surrender.
