How to spell permanent
permanent
Not permanant.
The trap
The word permanent ends -ent, and the misspelling permanant writes the ending as -ant. The middle vowel is an A and the last is an E, and permanence keeps the E at the end.
-ant and -ent are the same sound when the syllable is unstressed. Which one a word takes is usually learned with the word, and its -ance or -ence relative keeps the same vowel (confident, confidence).
What it means
adjective. Lasting or intended to last indefinitely.
